Skincare Haul and Thoughts: featuring The Ordinary, Emma Hardie, Eucerin and more....

Hey, everyone.

I thought I'd give my latest thoughts on these skincare products I've been using for the past few months. There's quite a few featured here, so I'll cut the initial jibber-jabber that I normally do within the first paragraph and crack on!

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Starter Kit

This was a starter set that I purchased late last Summer but hadn't really started using it until last November when the weather started getting colder. Now, that the Winter season is in full swing, the Moringa Cleansing Balm as been my go-to for those special moments (no, not those special moments, naughty!) when I want something super comforting but luxurious to cleanse and take my makeup off in the evening.

This luxurious balm literally takes seconds to melt my makeup and remove without any irritation and feeling as though it brings nothing but goodness to my skin. Also, the wafting lush scent is just so heavenly and relaxing! You really do feel that your skin is in good hands as it contains essentials oils from Orange, Neroli, and Mandarin to help rejuvenate and revitalise the skin; and also contains Rose and Jasmine to help recondition dry and dull complexions. And not forgetting, finally the Moringa Seed Extract, which helps to purify and minimise the appearance of open pores. My skin feels so soft and smooth after use. This has proven to be a fantastic product for us mature skinned folk.

The Amazing Face Age Support Cream is just that - amazing! The sample sized I received with the Starter Kit lasted for ages as you only need a very small amount for the entire face. Once again, it's quite heavily scented and the cream is quite rich which has been ideal for this time of year. This is really aimed for older skins like myself  and has been such a great product for protecting my skin against the cold and central heating. But what I love most, is that I can really see the difference in my  skin as it looks plumper and feels firmer every time I use this. The only downside is, just like the Moringa Balm, it's quite pricey!

Eucerin*

Other products I've been using is the Anti-Age Hyaluron-Filler Eye Cream 15ml and the Hyaluron Filler Day Cream for Normal to Combination  both containing Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerine Saponin. It also comes with the essential UV protection of SPF15.

Now, we all know and love what hyaluronic acid can do for us, and to describe it in short, it helps to plump up the skin because we lose firmness as we get older. This contains both High and Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid to help fine lines and deeper wrinkles as it's able to penetrate further where they originate. The Glycine Saponin supports the Hyaluronic Acid production in cells where the deepest wrinkles are formed.

The eye cream has been really lovely to use and has proven it's ability to withstand against the cold elements but also protect from the UV rays. I wasn't aware of any eye creams that contain SPF, let alone think about using them this time of year. This eye cream absorbs brilliantly leaving my eye area soft, hydrated and protected and have noticed improvement on the outer third under my eye area (the thinnest part and where crows feet normally develop).

The day cream, I have to say, despite being formulated for normal and combination skins, this leaves the surface of my skin a bit too greasy and glow-y for me, so perhaps this would be better suited for dry skins. I've even waited a good few minutes before applying my makeup which is a little annoying but it still makes my foundation look a little shinier than I like. So, rather than waste it, I decided to use this as night cream instead which is much better.

I haven't really noticed that much improvement in my wrinkles although I do only have a few my forehead. It could be because another product has taken care of it, so perhaps my skin doesn't really need this.

Una Brennan Super Facialist

The Super Facialist range created from the London based facialist, Una Brennan, has become extremely popular over the years and I can't quite believe I'm so late to join this party! It a range that's suitable for anyone and everyone, featuring products that targets all skin needs. But what's also great, is they are extremely affordable and can be purchased from most Boots stores.

The Neroli Firming Daily Brightening Cleanser is just a brilliant budget alternative for cleansing and removing all traces of makeup. I love how it makes my skin super clean and fresh and also how it wakes up my skin like it's feeling renewed.

I love anything that's Neroli scented as I think this gives such a calm and relaxing feel which I think we could do a lot more of during our busy daily lives. £7.99 hardly breaks the bank for a good cleanser, and the fact that it's within easy access from most Boots makes this even more appealing. I am so looking forward to discovering more from this range especially as they're always on offer too.

Nip + Fab Dragons Blood Fix Serum

I'd seen quite a few products with Dragon's Blood in the title, Rodial being one of them although very expensive. So I decided to purchase this purse friendly offering from Nip + Fab and see what so special about dragon's blood. Of course, it doesn't feature real blood from a Dragon, haha - it's actually the sap or resin that comes from certain plants in South America which is meant to be great for plumping, reducing fine lines and keeping your skin more hydrated (anymore plumping, I'll end up looking like beach ball!).

This Nip + Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Serum is really lovely refreshing gel formula that sinks into my skin instantly. However, the scent is very strong and gives me the wrong impression that it's formulated for oily skins and that it's going to extract rather than inject. Unfortunately, despite the refreshing texture I feel this would be better suited for use during the Summer months rather than Winter as I don't feel it hydrating enough.

The Ordinary

The price of these clinical formulations has done nothing but encourage me to try out more from their range. So, for the past few months, I've been trying out one of their anti-aging formulas the Advanced Retinoid 2%  despite not really suffering from any deep wrinkles yet. This one comes in their darker shade bottle and uses next-generation retinoid active technologies which have been shown to achieve better reduction in signs of ageing than retinol without the irritation.

I introduced this into my skincare routine gradually as I was concerned this may cause some irritation like I've read some do. However, this one didn't, and I now apply this every second or third evening. The main difference I've seen has been the overall texture of my skin as it's really super smooth despite not being classed as an exfoliator and have also seen an improvement in my frown lines (lines across my forehead). The only thing you have to watch is that this makes your skin more sensitive to the UV rays, so sun protection is a must.

This formulation for the eye area, the Caffeine Free Solution 5 %  has become my first disappointment from the range, which, to be honest, I kind of expected it. I mean, let's face it, it really would've had to have been some miracle product to reduce my puffy eye bags! I've read on many occasions how caffeine is the wonder ingredient in reducing puffiness from under the eyes. The trouble is, mine is becoming more of a structural issue due to the ageing process rather than a lack of sleep issue, so may work better for that. However, this serum is lasting forever as I only need the tiniest amount, so I'll keep on using it for now. You never know, I may wake up one morning and see them gone!

The 100% Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil, is another anti-aging formulation that I've been applying  in the evening but as a final step after applying everything else. I have a love-hate relationship with this one because of the weird smell it gives, which I suppose is to be expected due to being in its cold-pressed natural form. However, this has been great for replenishing lost moisture and bringing harmony back into my cheeks. I also like to use this oil to help balance out the oils in my t-zone by tricking them so it slows down oil production and thinking I'll need less.

Unfortunately, despite the low cost, I don't think it'll be a product I'll be buying again because I can't get past that weird smell it gives! I love my products to come with a pleasant scent (if they must come with one at all,) as I feel it's an essential part of the enjoyment and experience when using a product.

Products with marked with * had been sent for me to review.

Have you tried any of these skincare products?
