Primark PS Beauty! Is it any good?

Primark PS Beauty Review

Primark PS Beauty Review

It seems times are changing when it comes to make-up sold in fashion stores. What with Top Shop, H&M, Next, New Look and even M&S's Autograph range, all at some point producing some gems, it seems we've entered a new era when it comes make-up sold alongside your smalls, unlike in my younger days when they was deemed pretty rubbish and worse than drugstore.

Lately, Primark has been another name that's cropped up a lot on the radar, as their range continues to grow and expand by the minute resulting with buyers bringing in a lot of hype. I became intrigued to see what all the fuss was about, and started to pick up some bits and pieces during the course of this year. I thought it would be a good idea to share these buys and translate my thoughts onto you good people....So, is Primark Beauty really all that?

I Finally Gave In! Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette By Anastasia Beverly Hills: Review & Swatches

Anastalia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette Review

After deciding to pass on what now seems to have become "Subculture gate" (oh the dramas!) I finally bought the "the other Sister"Modern Renaissance by ABH. Ever since its release just a little over a year ago, I convinced myself time and time again that I didn't need this palette. Why? To be honest, I have no idea. Although I initially shared some feeling over the higher price tag which is far more expensive than her other releases. Even the promise of a major upgrade to a more pro-formulation had failed to entice me. I was quite happy with the shadows from her past releases which I didn't think were that bad. I have some very old palettes. "She Wears It Well" was one of them (for those of you who are really hard core fans!) and remembered really enjoying  that one.

Capturing Ruth Mastenbroek's Latest Release - Firedance

Ruth Mastenbroek Firedance Fragrance

Ruth Mastenbroek Firedance Fragrance

I've discovered some super fragrances during the course of this Summer, and have managed to gain some vials either through online or whilst shopping at the dept store. But it's always particularly lovely when you discover a niche brand as they tend to bring something a little different to the table. One that I've particularly enjoyed recently is Ruth Mastenbroek's Firedance.*

Unless you're a real fragrance connoisseur or share a love of niche brands, Ruth Mastenbroek may not be a familiar name to you. However, after starting her long career in perfume as an assistant manager in London's prestigious department store Selfridges, she then became the nose behind the many scents created for big names such as Kenneth Turner, fashion brand Jigsaw and of course, not forgetting the highly successful Jo Malone Grapefruit, which was loved so much by Jennifer Lopez, she ordered 300 candles for her hotel room. Ruth is also a former president for the British Perfumers Society, and if that wasn't enough under her belt, she has now created her her own signature line.

The inspiration behind Firedance is a story of celebration and rejoicing in each moment of contentment in life, which made this a very fitting discovery what with just celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday.

The fragrance...

Ingredients & fragrance family
Top: Apple, lemon
Heart: Damask rose, leather, cashmere
Base: Oudh, patchouli
Fragrance type: Rose

The main character from this fragrance is Damask Rose. Upon opening, it wasn't the usual flowery waft I was expecting but in a good way. The rich blends of apple and lemon along with its hearty oudh and patchouli base took me by surprise, leaving me to really appreciate this powerful blend. I'm not normally one for these deeper, richer scents but this really does ooze luxury and sophistication. It's exquisite.

Once settled, leather and cashmere is detected along with the Rose. It really is a beautiful combination. As they say, fragrances evoke different memories or capture different meanings to each person, and for me, the release of Firedance couldn't have come at a better time now we're heading into Autumn. Not one that likes to say goodbye to Summer, the amber notes provide that late Summer feel, whilst also promoting a rich, warm, deeper flavour that I like switch to during the Winter months. I love it!

The design of the bottle is elegant and luxurious and would be happily placed on  my dressing table. But I particularly love the teardrop feature that captures a lovely enchanting theme Every Drop Tells A Story. I'm just drawn in!

Prices start at £90 for 50ml, although there is a 2ml sample for £5 for those of you who wish to discover more before buying the full size. Also in a sample size, you can purchase the entire collection featuring 3 further  more fragrances, which I think is great way to discover before putting together your Christmas wish list (yes, already!)

You can purchase the range direct from the Ruth Mastenbroek website, Fenwicks of Bond Street or from selected independent retailers.

Have you tried any fragrances from Ruth Mastenbroek?

Nivea Launches #Loveitforlonger Campaign with Fashion Designer Matthew Williamson

Nivea Invisible Back & White Deoderant

Nivea have teamed up with renowned British Fashion Designer, Matthew Williamson, to launch their #loveitforlonger campaign to help extend the life of our clothes. Nivea felt it was a natural partnership as  Matthew is loved for creating timeless garments that can be worn time and time again.

For this limited edition, fans of Nivea's Invisible  Black & White deodorant will see a change to its original monochrome look to a Blue/Pink floral theme that features Matthew's stunning butterfly iconography (which I think looks absolutely beautiful!)

The Invisible deodorant was created to prevent those annoying white marks left on Black clothing and to also help prevent the build-up of Yellow stains seen on White, so Black stays Black and White stays White, and also for colours to stay brighter for longer. The deodorant also ensures 48 hour non-stop protection against perspiration.

This was a brilliant addition to have whilst on my hols as I could change into my clothing quickly without the worry of those dreaded white marks! Whilst away, I also had the pleasure of finally experiencing some really great weather, with some days being particularly hot! This ensured I was kept smelling and feeling fresh all day long.

This limited edition 250ml - RRSP £3.29* is now available at major retailers nationwide  including Boots & Superdrug.
